You folks asked for it, so here's the closest thing you will have from me (for now anyways). I have been working with the good guys at ReviverSoft on a Start Menu solution based on my research and on their existing product Start Menu Reviver. After my research they got in touch with me and showed me their product that I have never seen. The UI was bad, like mockup prototype experiment-like bad, but the functionality and code was all there!

So I designed a new Start Menu Reviver and they are coding and releasing it!

As you can see on my designs, it is a solution between my designs and their product. Microsoft just announced that they will be releasing a new Start Menu in a future update, but in the mean time and in case it really sucks (still not so sure on that Win7/Tile hybrid design) that will be released pretty soon!
